A tribute album to Deep Purple will hit stores on September 25th. It’s called Re-Machined - A Tribute To Deep Purple's Machine Head, and a number of artists worked on the album. Among those bands are Chickenfoot, Iron Maiden, Carlos Santana, the Flaming Lips, Black Label Society, and Metallica.

For Metallica’s part, they covered the song “When a Blind Man Cries.” When I first hit play on the video below, I wasn’t sure if I was listening to Metallica, even though it was their YouTube channel. They eventually add their own flavor into the song, but they’ve done a great job capturing the feel of Deep Purple. Listening to this song makes me want to kick back and do illegal things.

The tribute album is coming just months after Jon Lord, founding member and former Deep Purple keyboardist, passed away after battling cancer.

The lineup on this album is a work of amazing talent, and is sure to take you back to a simpler time. Just by listening to the tune below, I think I’ll run out to get this one as soon as it’s released.
