Showtime has announced that Marilyn Manson will guest star in season six of ‘Californication.’ The shock rocker will appear as himself, and in the episode will have what is described as an “unforgettable meeting” with David Duchovny’s character Hank Moody.

Fans of the show, which revolves around troubled novelist Moody, will have to wait until 2013 to see Manson’s appearance. Filming of the new season began last month. ‘Californication’ has many rock and metal references, as Moody’s three novels are all named after Slayer albums.

Manson has acted before, appearing in movies including ‘Blue Highway,’ ‘Jawbreaker,’ ‘Party Monster’ ‘Rise: Blood Hunter’ and the recent short film ‘Wrong Cops.’  He has appeared as himself on TV shows such as ‘Celebrity Ghost Stories’ and the documentary ‘Bowling for Columbine.’

In a recent interview with Loudwire, Manson discussed his appaearance in ‘Bowling For Columbine,’ and how it changed the minds of some people who blamed him for the tragedy. “I don’t necessarily like the movie, and it’s funny because I did a cameo on ‘Lost Highway’ for example — it’s my favorite David Lynch movie. I’m not that egotistical, but I do agree with you that ‘Bowling for Columbine,’ that one thing that I said, did create a window — a catalyst that opened up a whole new way of people looking at me. After that I had ‘The Golden Age of Grotesque’ and I had my ability and my confidence to say — and I think it was one of my most creative periods until now — [that] instead of being destroyed by all of it, it made me stronger.”

Of course his main gig is music, and Manson released his latest album ‘Born Villain‘ in May. It debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
