Kylesa Announce Indefinite Hiatus

Georgian sludge masters Kylesa have gone on indefinite hiatus. The band broke the news to fans last night (April 29) with a post on Facebook.

Kylesa began trudging through sonic swamps in 2001. Vocalist / guitarists Phillip Cope and Laura Pleasants would dedicate 15 years to Kylesa, releasing seven full-length albums, five EPs and three splits. Kylesa became one of the most important totems of America’s 21st century southern metal uprising, along with acts like Mastodon and Baroness.

Kylesa released the following statement announcing their hiatus:

To our fans and friends... After 15 years of nonstop touring and writing, we decided that it is time for a break. A lot of you have been asking when we are coming to your part of the world and that means a lot to us. However, we feel it should be known that as of now we have no plans to play any shows or work on any new material. We have collectively decided to take a hiatus with no set date to reconvene. We want to give a huge thanks to all our fans, friends, and family for the support over the years. It has been a killer journey and a real pleasure meeting so many amazing people along the way.

As of this posting, none of Kylesa’s core members are involved with any other musical projects. We’d like to thank Kylesa for a decade and a half of amazing tunes. Hopefully we’ll see you again!
