If you think the wind is bad here, it could be much worse apparently.

Living in Texas complaining about the heat is just stupid. It's Texas, it is going to be hot. However, when I moved to Wichita Falls I was not prepared for the wind. Some of those hot summer days feel like a blow dryer on high hitting you in the face. Go get your car washed, the wind kicks all the dirt onto your nicely cleaned car. The wind is brutal here.

So when I heard the Weather Channel did the windiest cities in America list, I thought for sure Wichita Falls would be on there. The top ten average wind speeds range from over 13 mph down to over 11 mph. I felt like Wichita Falls was in that range. Turns out I was wrong.

According to Weather Spark, Wichita Falls average wind speed is 10.3 mph. Dang, I thought for sure it was up there with the worst in the country. Turns out we're currently in our windier part of the year. In Wichita Falls, that lasts from February 8 to June 15. Our windiest times of the year happen in early April where we average 12 mph wind gusts.  Our least windy days are in late August where we average just over eight mph wind gusts.
