The body of escaped sex offender Brent Allen Jozefkowicz, who has convictions in Wichita County, was discovered this past weekend by Myrtle Beach police, the result of an apparent suicide.

Jozefkowicz made headlines earlier this month when he cut off his ankle monitor and left his halfway house in Fort Worth. Having served 18 years for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a 21-year-old woman and sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl, officials believed Jozefkowicz was likely to commit another sexual crime.

Four people have been arrested in connection with helping Jozefkowicz to escape. If convicted, each person could face up to 10 years in prison for hindering apprehension.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department notified the Texas Department of Public Safety that 48-year-old Jozefkowicz was found dead on August 15th from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  DPS spokesman Sgt. Lonny Haschel stated that Jozefkowicz's reason for being in South Carolina isn't clear and may never be.
