Ebola is a word that has struck fear in the hearts of men and women in West Africa for decades.  Now, it’s come to America.  Even though it’s been several days since a new infection was discovered, health care officials, city officials and the public remain on edge and rightfully so.  There currently is no cure, though experimental treatments have saved at least one U.S. doctor.

Tonight, MSU’s Gunn College of Health Sciences and Human Services is hosting an Ebola forum.  The event is free and open to the public from 7pm to 9pm at the Dillard College of Business, Room 101.

The forum will open with an informational session addressing the history of Ebola, a timeline of key events, and the signs and symptoms of the disease.  Dr. Robert McBroom, a Wichita Falls infectious disease specialist, will address transmission and treatment of virus.

A question and answer period will follow with Dr. Keith Williamson, Medical Director of MSU’s Vinson Health Center, Dr. Scott Hoyer, Vice President of Quality and Chief Medical Officer at United Regional, Lou Kreidler, Director of Health for the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District, Wichita Falls Mayor Glenn Barham and Dr. David Carlston, behavioral psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychology at MSU.

A live stream will be available at www.mwsu.edu/streaming/ebola
