Any readers out there?  After many, many moons, you can get all five volumes of Dean Koontz “Frankenstein”.  I started the series in 2007 and managed to stretch my loyalty out for five years.  I was not disappointed.  More after the jump.

Unlike the recent “re-imaginings” of Vampires, Werewolves or even Zombies, Dean Koontz takes this legend to a sci-fi area and not a “gothic” one.

The premise is not to hard to spell out. Dr. Frankenstein and his monster are still alive. Dr. Frankenstein has plans to replace the human race with his new “perfect” race.  The Monster, who is now portrayed as highly intelligent, is out to stop his plan.  Along the way many characters and events intertwine with the main premises but it is a common thread between all five books.  I really don’t want to give anything else away, I just know that when you are looking at a “series” some people cringe at the chore of making it all the way through.  Some also worry that the “series” will not end and they aren’t willing to get involved until the series is complete.  I personally would have fell into the latter category if I had known that it was going to take five years for this series to be done.  So is the series satisfying and worth your time.  I would have to give this one a resounding yes.  This, to me, is about as good as it gets (when it comes to the genre).  Best of all, since you waited you can get all five in paperback form and probably used.

One other item of note, this series of books was originally planned to be a miniseries on television, but the t.v. people didn’t like the way the story was going. Now that the series is complete, there are talks that it will be made for television.  Do yourself a favor and read the books now.
