Corey Taylor has been talking a lot about Stone Sour’s upcoming album, House of Gold and Bones, and that’s left me wondering if it will live up to all the hype. It’s a two-disc concept album, with the first hitting shelves on October 12th. While in Europe last month, he began playing a single from that album, a song called “Taciturn.”

Some are saying this album will be a game-changer for Stone Sour, and Taylor has stated over the past few months that it’s going to blow your mind and that they’re doing stuff they’ve never done before.

As for “Taciturn,” Taylor says there’s a reason he’s playing it solo:

‘That song translates so well acoustically,’ exclaims Taylor. ‘When I wrote 'Taciturn', I knew it was something that could go either way. It could be a full band piece or it could be something I could play on my own. If I was going to give the people a first taste of what House of Gold and Bones parts 1 and 2 are going to be, 'Taciturn' is a nice way to give them a cool picture of it even in a stripped-down sense. That song is essentially about trust. It's about trying to find the courage to open up to the people you care about, love, and value, knowing that they're going to be there to catch you when it all comes down. They're going to be there for you when nobody else is. It's about letting go of the anchors that hold you down in life.'

The song sounds like it could indeed be a hit, but I’m anxious to hear it with the full band backing it.  Taylor has been making a lot of grandiose claims about House of Gold and Bones, which as a fan makes me excited and frightened all at the same time. Listen for yourself and chime in on what you think.
