Guns N’ Roses are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday, and drama has surrounded the event for weeks. There have been rumors about who will be attending, who won’t be attending, and hopes that the original band would play on that day. Now news is breaking that Axl Rose won’t be attending the event, and he’s declining the invite to be a part of the induction all together.

Rose wrote a statement that said:

I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf. Neither former members, label representatives nor the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should imply whether directly, indirectly or by omission that I am included in any purported induction of 'Guns N' Roses.'

Nevertheless, the hall has stated that they will still induct him and regret that he won’t be there in person.

Tensions have been high between the original members for years, which may play into Rose’s reasons for the declined invitation, and he has stated that it’s an “awkward situation.”

As for Saturday’s event, Slash, Duff McKagen, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum, and Dizzy Reed are all expected to be in attendance. Izzy Stradlin is not expected to attend, and Green Day will be inducting them.
