Texas high school football does not mess around.

I really don't understand the hype around these college bowl games. Yes, care about the championship games. Do you really care about the Dollar General Bowl? No, they're all about making money and come off as a consolation prize to me. It looks like fans don't care about them either. The big bowl games are coming up on New Years, but the pre-Christmas bowl schedule has been pretty lack luster.

More people attended the high school football championship in Texas than any college bowl game this year. 40,318 came for DeSoto against Cibolo Steele at AT&T Stadium. One of the bowl games was a sellout,  the Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama. That stadium can only hold 21,000.

The biggest bowl game so far was the New Orleans Bowl, just over 35,000 people attended that game. In fact, experts are saying that the attendance won't beat that Texas high school football game until the Orange Bowl between Florida State and Michigan on December 30. All I am taking away from this, we take high school football very seriously here in Texas.
