Altitudes & Attitude is the new project featuring Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson, Anthrax bassist Frank Bello and drummer Jeff Friedl of A Perfect Circle.

The project came together while Ellefson and Bello were on tour doing 'Metal Masters' clinics. As bassists for two of the legendary 'Big 4' of thrash, it's not a stretch to imagine the two having great chemistry but my first question upon hearing of the collaboration was, "Who the hell's doing what in the band?" Ellefson explained in an interview with Loudwire:

What started out as simple bass ideas quickly developed into some really great songs together. Our fans would probably never suspect that a couple of metal bass players would have songs like these inside of us. It’s exciting to write melody with diversity while still pushing the limits of lead-bass playing. Frank’s singing, and both of us playing guitars and other instruments, gave us a whole new dimension for creative opportunities.

Considering the pedigree of the two bassists, you would expect Altitudes & Attitude to be a thrash metal project, but that's not the case as the band's self-titled debut EP, for the most part, is a rock record. Check out the first offering from the EP, 'Booze and Cigarettes', and give us your thoughts on the tune.
