All That Remains Reflect Post-Traumatic Stress With ‘Madness’ Video

All That Remains have had strong ties to the military during their existence, and the band is shining a light on one of the more difficult afflictions that have affected some of the soldiers who have seen action — post-traumatic stress disorder. In their powerful new video for “Madness,” the band effectively relay a bit of what soldiers go through in the clip.

The video is split between two points of view — that of the band delivering a chaotic performance of the song in a room mirroring the Oval Office of the White House with jarring cuts mirroring the chaos, and that of a soldier at home dealing with the actions of what he’s seen and having a bit of a breakdown.

The soldier is haunted by visions of being involved in a shootout, while breaking down in tears and tearing off his dog tags. He reaches for his gun hidden under the mattress of his bed and shakes as he contemplates taking action with the weapon until visions of his daughter flash in his head luckily overpowering the horrific images and bringing him back to reality. But for some suffering from PTSD, it doesn’t always play out with this outcome.

The soldier in the clip is none other than Army Ranger and Benghazi veteran Kris “Tanto” Paronto. Tanto has been deployed throughout South America, Central America, the Middle East and North Africa and has worked with the U.S. Government’s Global Response Staff conducting low profile security in high threat environments. He was part of the CIA annex security team that responded to the terror attack on the U.S. Special Mission in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, helping to save over 20 lives while fighting off terrorists for over 13 hours. The group also offer a behind the scenes video with Paronto that can be seen below.

“We are excited to present the video for ‘Madness.’ With the help of our friend, Kris Paronto we hope to call attention to the veteran community and the effects of Post Traumatic Stress. There are places you can call if you need someone to talk to. Reach out to the community and you’ll find the shoulder you need,” state the band.

The end of the clip urges veterans in need of assistance to reach out to the VA Helpline (877-424-3838 or www.va.gov/homeless) and Veterans Crisis Line (800-273-8255 or www.veteranscrisisline.net) for assistance. They also offer contact info for The Bootleg Campaign (www.bootlegcampaign.org) and 14 Hour Foundation (www.14hours.org) for those who want to help out.

“Madness” is featured on the new All That Remains album of the same name. The disc arrives in stores tomorrow (April 28) and can be ordered via Amazon, iTunes and Google Play. Look for All That Remains on tour in support of the album with dates booked all the way into early fall. They’ll play the Welcome to Rockville and Fort Rock festivals this weekend. All dates and ticketing info can be found here.
