Aaron Lewis, frontman for Staind, is getting behind a documentary film titled Shame on America. The film is about veterans returning home from war, and the struggles they face once they get back. Specifically the film focuses on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and how veterans are handled when they need help.

Up to 75,000 veterans are currently living on the streets, and the VA has a backlog of over 864,000 disability claims waiting to be filed. Some veterans have to wait over a year and go before a panel before receiving any benefits. It’s a long, drawn-out process that just isn’t working.

Lewis has teamed up with David Ellefson of Megadeth and director/photographer Fran Strine to make this documentary. They’re doing a Kickstarter campaign, which means you can be a part of this film as well. They’re accepting donations in any amount, and for just $5 you’ll see your name in the credits. They’re only $12,800 away from their goal, so chances are they’ll meet their funding. Check out Kickstarter for more details.
