A development near Lake Ray Hubbard will be getting a major makeover soon that many hope will become a tourist destination in North Texas.

It was announced today that the city of Rowlett will soon be the home of the Bayside development. It will be in the site of the old Robertson Park which the city of Rowlett purchased from Dallas a few years ago. The anchor to the whole development with be a new, man-made lagoon, with sparkling blue water, that will be about the size of 10 football fields.

The lagoon will be built by Crystal Lagoons out of Florida. They've done massive projects like this in Dubai and Chile. This will be their 12th project in the U.S. According to Fox 4 News, besides just the lagoon, there will be "pools are surrounded by sand, palm trees, sunbathing decks and other resort-style amenities." as well as a world-class marina resort, restaurants, retail shops, luxury condos and apartments, a live entertainment venue and the largest water fountain in Texas."

The entire project is expected to cost around $1 Billion. The city of Rowlett expects it to be something that has never been done before and will "put Rowlett on the map." They plan to break ground on the project on April 26th. You can get a few more details in the video below.
